Hyperkeratosis is noticed not only on the skin but also on the toe nails.
There is the under nail hyperkeratosis on the nails, which usually accompanies a variety of abnormalities of the nail base. One of the most common abnormalities is the thickening of the nail which in its turn affects the cuticle of the nail. The shape of the nail changes accordingly to the reason, while the colour becomes pale and yellow.
The most common illness is nail fungus, psoriasis, eczema, injuries , Darier’s disease, e.t.c

On the skin it is the thickening ( hardening) of the skin with the shape of a lump, due to excessive amounts of keratin that is produced, which transforms the outer layer of the skin into a hard cover of the body and it is hyperactive under the effect of high pressure and friction.
Hyperkeratosis is the defense mechanism of the skin for the causes which are mentioned above and appear on the lower limbs, metatarsal, toes e.t.c.
